My last day at Can Serrat

Some philosophies say life brings you exactly where you need to be. For me, Can Serrat is exactly where I needed to be this month. It gave me time to heal my body and my soul. Time to move beyond the accident... to be in a new place of seeing, feeling and working.

Can Serrat has been a gift... a gift of friendship and personal renewal. It has been a time of nourishment, visually and intellectually. This has been an experience of adaptation and a daily practice of doing - seeing, thinking, reading and doing unrestricted studio work.

Saying goodbye is bittersweet but I will return with a few cherished new friends and colleagues, many wonderful stories to share and a clear sense of living an unrestricted life to think as an artist.

While I am coming home with rolls of two large paintings, I know the better work is yet to come. Like a fine wine or meal, it will take time for the significant images to evolve. These are the most important images I am taking home.

A magical find near Can Serrat

Tomorrow is my last day here at Can Serrat. I will be so sad to leave this wonderful place!

Today, my friend Liz took me to her secret find, a public garden in tiny El Bruc just up a narrow pathway.

What a magical place. Imagine, a poor country village making way for gardens and community respite.
